Virginia native Brian Maxwell returns to Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship's squared circle for a second time when he meets Ulysses Diaz at BKFC 10 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on February 15.

Maxwell made his bare knuckle boxing debut at BKFC 8 in 2019, but came up short in that contest, losing to Jared Warren in the first round by TKO.

"I saw both positives and negatives," Maxwell said of his first time competing in the sport after transitioning from competitive mixed martial arts.

"It was a great experience, great exposure," he said. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't have jitters before my debut. The jitters kicked in at weigh-ins. That's when I knew it was real.

"But as soon as I heard my walkout song, the adrenaline started pumping, and the jitters were replaced. I was just running on pure adrenaline," he said.

Maxwell hopes to erase the memory of the loss by picking up a win over the professional boxer known as Uly "Monster." Ulysses Diaz, coming off a quick win in his MMA debut for Titan FC in December, now makes his professional bare knuckle debut.

"I'm the guy coming from out of town," Maxwell said of the fight against the Florida native.

A recent Instagram post from Diaz got Maxwell's attention. Uly wrote "Yall wanna see a dead body?" along with a the fight poster.

This didn't sit well with Maxwell.

"He did some shit talking on Instagram. His fans got in on it," he said. "They didn't get overly crazy, but I don't think it is going to play out the way they think it is."

Maxwell feels confident that despite Diaz's accolades in boxing, it is a good matchup for him to take coming off the loss.

"I feel good. I've done my homework," Maxwell said. "I've been in the lab, cooking on some things. I took a few steps back, working on my basics. They are going to see a completely different fighter than they saw in my last fight. They are gonna be surprised. Better not sleep on me."
