There should be a new No. 1 contender in the BKFC flyweight division when the new media rankings are released this week.

His name is Tyler “The Rookie” Randall.

The 29-year-old Hoosick Falls, NY fighter has earned the top spot after his split-decision victory over former BKFC World Flyweight Title challenger JR Ridge on Friday at BKFC Fight Night Clearwater. Randall entered fight night as the No. 2 contender, and Ridge held the No. 1 spot.

Now, Randall is ready to test his skills against John “The Magician” Dodson, the current BKFC World Flyweight Champion.

“I’ll fight him tomorrow if they let me,” Randall says.

Randall has a simple prediction for a possible showdown with Dodson.

“I see him getting overaggressive and thinking he can’t get knocked unconscious, or it could be a five-round war,” he says.

“Either way, I’m leaving with that belt.”

Randall’s journey in boxing began more than 15 years ago. Several of his closest supporters have passed away since then. He wants to bring home the belt to honor their memory.

“It will be the start of a major legacy,” Randall says when asked what the title will mean to him.

“I started fighting when I was 12 years old, knowing that I wanted to be a World Champion. I lost my brother at a young age, I lost my best friend/closest training partner at a young age, then I lost my other best friend. Winning this title will be a thank you to those that I’ve lost. It’ll be a stepping stone in making a difference.”
