Bobo O’Bannon ain’t too proud to beg.
At least that’s what he says when asked how he got matched up with former UFC star heavyweight attraction Ben Rothwell in Rothwell’s highly anticipated BKFC debut.
“I begged for it, if we’re going to be honest. Shamelessly begged for it,” the personable O’Bannon says with a chuckle.
“When they made the announcement that BKFC had signed Ben Rothwell, immediately I got hit up by a dozen people. They were asking what I was going to do. Well, I’m an idiot, so I posted a status about it, my buddy.”
Bare knuckle fighting fans around the world kept O’Bannon’s phone buzzing with likes, comments and shares. It didn’t take long for BKFC to come through with a call, and O’Bannon’s wish was granted – he and Rothwell were set for battle in the BKFC 30 Co-Main Event in Monroe, LA. on Oct. 1, LIVE on the BKFC app.
O’Bannon heaps praise on Rothwell for his credentials in the MMA world, but he says it’s a different story when you drop the gloves.
His prediction for fight night is simple.
“Somebody is going to sleep. Me, him – it doesn’t matter – somebody is going to sleep,” he said.
“Somebody is either going to sleep, or they’re not going to get off their stool. Me? I’ve gotta win this fight, so I’m getting up. I’m gonna get my big behind off the canvas if I find myself down there, and I’m going to do whatever it takes – whatever is humanly possible – to keep moving forward and winning this fight.”
