JR Ridge eyes BKFC title shot, bout with John Dodson after big win in Orlando

JR “The Lion” Ridge ate Saturday night in Orlando.

First, he improved to 3-1 in the Squared Circle with a unanimous decision victory over Chancey Wilson in their flyweight matchup at BKFC 32, LIVE on the BKFC app. Then, the 125-pound wrecking machine filled his plate – literally.

“I ate. I ate good, man,” Ridge says with a laugh when asked how he celebrated Saturday’s win. “I enjoyed a good, wholesome meal, my man.”

Ridge is happy with his performance, but he remains his own harshest critic, grading his weekend win a B-minus.

“There are times when I should’ve been a little more aggressive in the exchanges,” he says. “There were a few times when I should’ve reacted differently.”

Ridge is still hungry, and it seems the only thing that will relieve him of that feeling is a shot at the inaugural BKFC World Flyweight Championship.

That said, he’d also settle for a shot at former UFC flyweight title challenger John “The Magician” Dodson, who turned heads with a 40-second KO in his BKFC debut in August.

“I want that title shot, I want that belt. Failing that, Johnny Dodson says he’s got his eyes on the flyweight division. Well, I’ve got my eyes on Johnny Dodson,” he says.

“People thought me and Chancey was a banger. Me and Dodson would be an insane fight," he adds. "From a fan’s perspective, that’s fireworks, man. That’s the two fastest and strongest flyweights in BKFC going after it for five rounds.”
